Senior Animations Reel

Kyle Grzyb, Animator, Graduating Senior

Hi, I’m Kyle Grzyb, a graduating senior with a passion for motion graphics and animation. This video is a collection of work I completed for my MAGD Capstone and Art Studio classes where I learned and applied many cool new techniques in Adobe After Effects. I had a lot of fun developing the artistic aspect of these videos, but I was also able to apply the practical experience to my job at the UC where I mainly deal with animated promotional material. When I graduate, I hope to use these videos alongside my motion graphics work from the UC to demonstrate that I’m proficient in many facets of animation. Whether it be more artistic creative projects like these or just some contract work for a company, I’m always looking to improve.

Mock Dating Sim

Lisalet Messer, Illustrator and Motion Designer, Fall 2021 Graduate

Around the Valentine’s Day season, one of my online friends created a fake dating sim UI, and I decided to take that as a challenge to use it to its full extent. I used another friend’s background art and music from Incompetech, but the sprite, animation, and text were all done by me. At the time I was also watching one of my friends play the mobile game Twisted Wonderland, and I was inspired by their style of sprite animation and wanted to try out something similar for myself. Some of my favorite things to do is start projects on a whim, combine people’s work, and spend way too much time animating and drawing things for no reason at all, so I really got to flex those muscles for this project.

Character Banner: Gray Alegra

Lisalet Messer, Illustrator and Motion Designer

I really like animated banners that introduce a character, like something you might see in RPGs or character teasers. I was mostly inspired by the character teasers that Genshin Impact makes, and I really wanted to try something similar with a lot of moving parts that flowed seamlessly. I’m always looking for new things to try with motion graphics and character animation!

THANKS FOR VIEWING

Thanks to our Sponsors and the College of Arts and Communication for supporting our

MAGD Expo 2024

We hold multiple game jams a year where students across the program collaborate in 48 hour sessions to complete mini projects.

Students earn credit with our Game Jams course held multiple times a semester.

Students design their own senior projects. Kalei shows her UI/UX design to Dean Hayes.

Our students can gain experience making games in virtual reality.

Our students also gain experience creating games for alternative controls. Luke and Nicole are showing off their mid-air haptic feedback rhythm game.

Motion capture can bring your VR, AR, Motion Graphic to life. We have a new suit- and marker-based system.

Our annual summer camp brings in future students from 8th grade to seniors in high school to campus for a week of game development.

Nathan creates sound and audio for games. Courses in electronic music help make that happen.

Students can bring their own drawing tablets or check out equipment for their use.
