Cloud-9 Concept Art Character (Male)

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for the main character of the game. As an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, it was a lot of fun and a big learning experience to be able to focus on my fields of interest in this project.

Cloud-9 Guns Concept Art

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for the player character’s weapon in the game. The bottom right weapon was the one we ended up choosing for the game in the end. As an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, it was a lot of fun and a big learning experience for me to be able to focus on my fields of interest in this project.

Cloud-9 Enemy Concept Art

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for one of the enemy variants in the game. This specific enemy was meant to be one of the maintenance robots working on the spaceship that went haywire after an explosion on the ship. This enemy didn’t make it into the prototype due to time restrictions. As an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, it was a lot of fun and a big learning experience to be able to focus on my fields of interest in this project.

Cloud-9 Ammo Concept Art

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for the ammo pick-up items in the game. Although equipment isn’t my focus, as an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, I learned a lot from designing various items for this project.

Cloud-9 Tutorial Room Concept Art

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for one of the starting tutorial rooms of the game, which I also did all the 3D modeling for. As an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, I learned a lot with this project.

Cloud-9 Hallway Concept Art

Jacob McKenney, Artist/Designer, Senior

This concept art was made for a group game project called Cloud-9. This was made as a design concept for one of the hallways leading to the main hub area of the game, which I also did all the 3D modeling for. This hallway didn’t make it into the prototype for the game due to time restrictions. As an aspiring Game Designer and Artist, I learned a lot working on this concept art.

Sparky

Katie Pollock, Artist, Senior

This piece was made with my dog Sparky in mind. He was 14, almost 15, when I completed this project. He passed away a week prior to the expo. During the process of this project, I had an upfront and uncomfortable reminder about how fragile life is. I’m forever grateful for my goodest boy and the 15 years I had with him.

Rocky

Katie Pollock, Artist, Senior

Rocky is my dog of 3 years. My mom fostered him at the age of 7, and I convinced her to keep him because I loved him so much. I have always considered dogs to be a very important part of my life and I knew right away that Rocky was the wonderful and loving companion for me. This portrait of him was my first foray into pet portraiture and my way of expressing my love for a boy with stubby legs and a tongue that always sticks out.

Bug Fanart

Lauren Strauss

I just like to doodle stuff. My friend wanted me to play a game over the semester. 30 hours later, i doodled this NPC. I’d like to possibly have doodling involved in my future career. I have a ways to go. But I am happy with this result.

Doodle Page

Lauren Strauss

Doodle of some cartoon characters. I don’t color often so this was fun to try and figure out some colors I liked.

Cuphead Fanart

Lauren Strauss

Quick sketch of MDHR’s characters from Cuphead.

WPAP Art Eddie Peng Portraiture

Wenshou Wu, Digital Media Visual Design Student, Sophomore

This is Wenshou, an international student in the UW-Whitewater. The project is my final project of the Digital Media Visual Design class, professor Xiaohong Zhang gave me some good feedback and suggestion. Eddie Peng is a famous movie star in China and he is my idol.

Mycelium Witch

Salem Radey, Artist, Senior

“Mycelium Witch” was my capstone portfolio project. I spent about 3 months concepting and working through every step of a concept art pipeline before I got to this rendered splash art. I want to eventually be a concept artist or art generalist for a game company, so familiarizing myself with the process helped immensely.

WPAP Self Portrait

Jordan Stephens, 2D Artist, Sophomore

This piece is a self portrait of my high school senior photo in the WPAP digital art style. It was my final project for my MAGD 210 class and it is by far my favorite art price I have made in the semester. This work is to get used to more pop art styles of 2D art for my up coming career as a graphic designer/ character designer.

Magma Lady

Salem Radey, Artist, Senior

This was work for a card art illustration for a collection card game that didn’t make the final cut. I love making original character illustrations which lends to my goals of either working as an independent illustrator or as a concept artist / art generalist on a game development team!

Mongrel Valley

Noah Santini, Creator, Junior

This is concept art for a show I have been in the works in. Designed the characters, developed an art style, wrote the story, I even started to learn how to draw for this project. The ultimate goal is to pitch this idea to a studio and have it turn into a full-fledged show!

Our students also gain experience creating games for alternative controls. Luke and Nicole are showing off their mid-air haptic feedback rhythm game.

Motion capture can bring your VR, AR, Motion Graphic to life. We have a new suit- and marker-based system.

Our annual summer camp brings in future students from 8th grade to seniors in high school to campus for a week of game development.
